Unnecessary War

There are many names for the
many wars, piled like graves
upon graves, anguish upon anguish
names that ring out through
history like bloody chimes
against weary ears
we had the Revolutionary War
the Mexican /American war
the War of 1812
the Civil War
and the big ones...one and two
and more, many more,
the clashing is interminable, the fire fights
devour the cities
but this war, the one in the desert
the one launched by a man called George "W"
the one the world disparages
will be known as the Unnecessary War
the war that did not have to occur
the war that shouldn't be a war
the war that wasn't worth it

Cry for the soldiers in the unnecessary war.
Cry for the empty families.
Cry for your manipulated self,
for even Mount Rushmore is crying with you,
their stone faces weep stone tears as the unnecessary war goes on.
